Greetings, good reader. A.S. here.

I received great news yesterday that I wanted to share with you. My short story entitled Zulu 1 is scheduled to be published in the spring 2012 issue of Hungur Magazine.

Sam’s Dot Publishing, which produces the publication, describes Hungur as a “magazine devoted to original vampire stories.” However, the magazine defines vampires very loosely.

As for the story itself, here’s the cover jacket summary: In Zulu 1, a group of American soldiers from the Tenth Mountain Division enters a cave in a remote part of Afghanistan just after the fall of Mazar-i-Sharif in 2003. The soldiers’ mission is to disrupt the flow of weapons to Taliban fighters, but what they discover in the bowels of the cave is far older and deadlier than  anything they could imagine.

I hope you’ll read the story when it’s published and tell me what you think here on A Darkness More Than Night.

Zulu 1 is the third story I’ve had published. Just in case you missed them, Ghosts of Annapurna was published in the fall of 2010 by Ghostlight Magazine, and, late last summer, Ronnie Van Zant Really Does Walk on Water appeared in Sex and Murder Magazine. If you have a moment to take the time and read them, please let me know your thoughts here on the blog.

Yours,

A.S.
